THE HOLLYWOOD LODGE of the Sons of Italy was established April 3rd, 2004 and meets monthly. The membership is a mix of ages, and occupations - reflecting the diverse culture of the Los Angeles community. Membership is comprised of in excess 125 men and women, with a junior program available for those under 18. The Sons of Italy Hollywood was founded in memory of William Cannizzaro - father of founding OSIH Past-President Greg Cannizzaro, and remains an active supporter of charitable and social organizations including the San Gennaro Foundation and programs to assist autistic and handicapped children.

The Order Sons of Italy in America (OSIA) is the largest and longest-established national organization for men and women of Italian heritage in the United States.

• Established in 1905 as a mutual aid society for the early Italian immigrants, today OSIA has more than 600,000 members and supporters and a network of more than 700 chapters coast to coast, making it the leading service and advocacy organization for the nation's estimated 26 million people of Italian descent.
  
  
• Its missions include encouraging the study of Italian language and culture in American schools and universities; preserving Italian American traditions, culture, history and heritage; and promoting closer cultural relations between the United States and Italy.
  
  
• The Sons of Italy Foundation (SIF) is a private, philanthropic institution, established by OSIA in 1959. To date, the SIF has given more than $83 million to scholarships, medical research, cultural preservation, disaster relief, and other projects.
  
  
• The Commission for Social Justice (CSJ) is the anti-defamation arm of OSIA. The CSJ is committed to fighting racism, prejudice, and the stereotyping of all races, religions and cultures.
  
  
• OSIA's national headquarters is in Washington, D.C., near Capitol Hill and the various congressional office buildings.

L'Ordine Figli d’Italia in America (OSIA), con sede nazionale a Washington, D.C., e' l'organizzazione piu' grande degli Stati Uniti per uomini e donne di discendenza italiana. E' stata fondata nel 1905 e oggi ha piu' di 600,000 soci e sostenitori ed una rete nazionale di 700 succursali. Tra le varie organizzazioni italo-americane, OSIA e' quella che maggiormente rappresenta gli oltre 26 milioni di cittadini italo-americani negli Stati Uniti.

L'OSIA si propone di aiutare la comunita' nazionale italo-americana mantenerne vivi i valori e le tradizioni propri, facendo si che il pubblico in genere ed i mezzi di comunicazione in particolare siano al corrente dei contributi degli italiani alla storia ed al progresso degli Stati Uniti.

A questo fine, l'OSIA collabora attivamente con il Congresso e la Casa Bianca su questioni che riguardano gli italo- americani.

Questi alcuni dei programmi offerti dall'OSIA:

• Finanziamenti a conferenze culturali su scala nazionale
  
  
• Assegnazione di borse di studio per studenti universitari italo-americani
  
  
• Monitorizzazione dei mass-media contro l'immagine negativa degli italo-americani e delle loro tradizioni
  
  
• In collaborazione con altri gruppi italo-americani, lotta contro campagne diffamatorie.
  
  
• Sviluppa relazioni culturali ed economiche tra l'Italia e gli Stati Uniti.

Ogni anno, a maggio a Washington, D.C., l'OSIA organizza una famosa serata di gala alla quale prendono parte il presidente degli Stati Uniti, illustri italo-americani, e circa 1.000 persone provenienti dagli Stati Uniti e dall'estero.

In questa occasione, l'OSIA conferisce onorificenze ad eminenti cittadini italiani ed italo-americani. In passato, l'OSIA ha cosi' onorato personalita' quali Antonin Scalia, primo giudice italo-americano della Corte Suprema degli Stati Uniti, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, l'ambasciatore USA in Italia Peter Secchia, ed altri.

L'OSIA, organizzazione senza fine di lucro, politicamente indipendente, con sede legale a Washington, D.C., e' stata fondata nel 1905.
